Free Gift With Mobile Phones
Lots of mobile phone companies are offering incentives in the form of free gifts to get us to sign up to contracts through them. These incentives vary widely, but some that are currently on offer are:
- Free Nintendo Wii, Free Xbox 360, Free Playstation 3, Free LCD Tv, Free Laptop, Free Ipod Nano, Free Ipod Touch, Free PSP, Free Auto Cashback, Free Tom Tom Sat Nav, Free Cashback by redemption
Sometimes you can even find the odd combined offer, something which offers you a free phone, a gift and some auto cashback as well. Remember the larger and more expensive the gift, the more likely it is that you will have to go for a longer contract, or one where you pay more per month.
Working out which incentive is right for you is a complex business, but it’s best to think about if you’d buy that contract without the free gift and if you wouldn’t then decide if you’re really making a saving or getting a good deal by going with it. If you would still go for that tariff then you’re probably doing the right thing as what you’re doing is just going with what suits you and getting something extra along the way.
It’s best to think first and foremost about what you are likely to use your phone for, how many texts do you send per month, how many minutes would you like, and then what sort of phone do you want and whether you have a preference about which network you use. After you’ve reached this point, you can start to look at the offers that are available and choose one which is suitable.
For me, I’d start by knowing that I prefer to use a Nokia phone – I just like the way they work, so for me this would influence my preference quite considerably. Then I know that unless I get so many free minutes and texts that it stops it from mattering, I prefer to go with Virgin as my network. So then I’d search through the Nokia phones that are on the Virgin Network and look at deals within that sub category. I’d then look at what I’d be paying over all, and what I’d get for my money, the phone, the gift, and the amount of minutes and texts I’d get.
Be aware that even if you know fairly well what it is you want, there may still be a number of slightly different offers available to you from different companies. I recently saw three different companies all offering a free Wii with Wii sports, and the exact same tariff on the same network, for the same cost, the only difference was the choice of phone. I’ve also seen the same phone and tariff available but with a choice of different gifts.
