Buying a mobile phone can be expensive if you want to get a phone that’s got all the latest features. However, there are often deals around which give you money back on your purchase, if you look for them.
Cashback redemption deals are not for everyone, and it’s something you need to think carefully about before you decide, and make sure you have read and understand all the terms and conditions and understand them fully if you are to make it work for you.
The general idea behind a cashback redemption (or as some companies are calling them chequeback) mobile phone offer is that you sign up to a tariff for 12 or 18 months etc. as normal, get your phone as part of the deal and pay monthly as you normally would. Then, after a certain period of time you follow a set of instructions and send in certain information to a given address, and are given a proportion of the money you have spent back. As I’ve said already, it’s important to make sure before you sign up to the offer that you understand the terms and conditions completely and that you are going to be able to meet them otherwise you will not get back the money that you are expecting. Often these terms and conditions will require you to send in copies of receipts, bills, and other paperwork, and will need this to be sent at very specific times during the contract, such as giving you 30 days in which to make the claim, and the 30 days begin from 6 months after your contract begun for example. Obviously you will need to make sure you remember to keep all the relevant paperwork, and that you send in your claim at the requested time etc. (A good way to remember this, is to place a reminder note on the calendar of your new phone so that it will remind you on the 6mth anniversary of the start of your contract say (or similar depending on when you need to send off).
